Pet Adoption Events for Summer 2023

If you’re looking for a new furry family member in your life or just wanna spend your summer hanging out with animals, you’re in luck! There are plenty of pet adoption events scheduled over the summer showcasing pets in need of good homes!

 

Love Train Puppy Adoption Day

Location: Humane Society of Huron Valley, 48105

Adoptions on Love Train Fridays happen 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. Come see and be prepared to adopt the same day! If you plan on adopting, it’s recommended you complete a dog adoption application online beforehand. 

The Love Train features cats, adult dogs, but especially puppies!

They post a large selection of pets, but if you’re curious about more they can send you email notifications as well. Otherwise, it’s best to check often as most of the animals are adopted very quickly.

When the animals go home, they’ve received an initial health check and have been spayed/neutered, microchipped, current on vaccinations and have received their initial dewormer. Kittens and cats have been Feline Leukemia tested, and dogs have been heartworm tested and temperament tested. 

Puppies (under 6 months old) – $395
Small Breed Adult Dogs (6 months to 8 years) – $290
Medium-Large Breed Adult Dogs (6 months to 8 years) – $205
Senior Dogs (any size, 8 years or older) – $105
Kittens (up to 5 months) – $150
Cats (5 months to 12 years) – $115
Senior Cats (12 years or older) – $50

Adoption fees not only cover the above services, but also offset the cost of caring for the animals prior to being adopted. For Love Train animals, their fees also help offset transportation costs.

Pets & Pajamas

A fun event for ages 6 to 11, the Humane Society invites kids to watch a movie, eat some pizza & popcorn, and play with adoptable pets! Children can come wearing their pajamas, bring a sleeping bag and pillow and be ready for some animal-themed fun while parents enjoy a night to themselves!
(As a heads up, they are unable to accommodate private groups of 5 or more kids)

Dinner is served from 5:50-6:15 pm, movie begins at 6:50 pm. 

 

Yoga with Cats

Sundays: 9am – 10am
Thursdays: 7:30 – 8:30
Cost: $10
Location: Tiny Lions Lounge and Adoption Center, 48103

Have fun practicing yoga with fluffy friends! Their website states, “Our hatha-style classes will help bring peace to your mind and body, while filling your heart with joy as you help support the animals in our community.”

Meant for ages 12 and up, but anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult 21+.  Groups of people must be 5 or less as well.

A changing area, storage cubbies and mats are available to use, as well as yoga blocks, blankets and straps. 

Doors open approximately 15 minutes prior to class. For the comfort of others, those who arrive more than 5 minutes after the scheduled start time will not be admitted to class. Little Paws Storytime

This fun event features crafts, stories, finger puppets, a tour of the cat area, and a dog meet and greet! A perfect time for kids ages 2-5. Up to two adults per child may attend free of charge. Siblings under the age of one attending with a registered child will also not be charged.
