Why Perna’s Pet Care?
Perna’s Pet Care started in 2018 by Caitlin Perna after working for other dog walking and pet sitting companies and constantly feeling like there was more she could do. She created Perna’s Pet Care for a more personalized experience working together with pet parents to offer the best care possible for each individual pet.
With so many neighbors, moms, and kids pet sitting and dog walking today it can be hard to decide who to choose. So what about Perna’s Pet Care makes us the best choice? We are a team dedicated professionals working together to make sure you always get the best care possible.
Why choose our team:
–We have back ups for our sitters to make sure they are always cared for
–Everyone goes through an extensive interview and training process to ensure only the best are hired
–We use industry leading software Time to Pet for everything from scheduling to payments to communication
–Each visit is GPS tracked and includes a visit report with photos, checklists, and notes
–Option to meet pet sitter before first booking
-No extra fee for administering medications
In-home pet sitting services like ours offer a great deal of comfort to the pets we care for. Allowing them to stay home relieves stress and anxiety, prevents them from boarding in loud facilities with limited space, and also gives a chance to build personal relationships with their sitter.
On top of all that- to ensure that we are staying up to date on best practices for our business and pet care, we are members of prestigious groups such as Pet Sitters International and The Texas Pet Sitters Association. These groups provide us with seminars and trainings throughout the year with professionals from every aspect of pet care you can imagine.

III Pets:
Roo, American Pit Bull terrier
Interesting Fact:
I spent 3 months bicycling around Colombia
Biography:
I’ve been in the pet care industry since 2013 starting with doggy day care centers and volunteering in animal shelters. Now, as a professional pet sitter:
- I am a member of Pet Sitters International
- a founding member of the Texas Pet Sitters Association (where my business began)
- was trained by the largest no-kill animal shelter (Austin Pets Alive!) to care for and feed neo-natal kittens in their ICU
- participate in events for the Women’s Exchange of Washentaw, a group for women in business
- am pet CPR/First Aid certified
I moved back to Michigan in 2021 (I got my BA at Western Michigan University, go Broncos!) to be close to my sister and watch my nephews grow up. They are both less than 2 years old but I am shooting for the title of Best Aunt in the World.
It’s this same love I give to the pets I care for- your family becomes my family. My goal is to give you peace of mind whether you’re at work or out of town. Offering exercise, enrichment, walks, cuddles, and playtime or whatever else your pet might need.
I can’t wait to meet you and your fur-babies!

Interesting Fact:
I own vintage Kawasaki and have been riding since the age of 17
Biography:
Growing up, I heard every friend of mine at some point call my house a “zoo”. Dogs, cats, hamsters, guinea pigs, turtles, frogs, newts, fish, and rabbits (still alive and well!) all had their time making my family’s hallways their home.
I was raised by two pet lovers who value an animal’s respect, and they diligently instilled their values into me. My grandfather was a dog trainer and my father his longtime employee, now I plan to carry on that legacy as I begin an apprenticeship in the world of force free training.
I carry an Honors BA in Psychology and Global Studies from Wayne State University with 4 years of volunteer in-field research experience and Summa cum laude esteem. I am a horror fan, a tattoo collector, and a backcountry camping hobbyist.
I am a strong believer in gentle pet parenting and pride myself on doing my best to accommodate every animal’s specific needs according to their personality to create the most meditative space possible while your animal is under my supervision!

Pets:
One very elderly pittie named Cupcake, a slightly less elderly pomksy named Abel, and two cats – Petri, a giant among men, and Meelo, smaller than his baby brother in both courage and stature.
Interesting Fact:
Besides pet care, I work as a ceramicist, creating pottery and sculptures to (occasionally) sell at art markets.
Biography:
When I was younger, I was always the one my family turned to when a stray cat needed coaxing out from inside the engine of my dad’s truck, or when a nervous, spooked pup got into our yard. I started out volunteering with my local animal shelter in high school, and continued to foster a love of animals all the way through my art degree.
After college, I worked for a while at a doggie daycare – eventually, I ended up switching over to in-home pet care, which has been incredibly rewarding! I love discovering each new animal’s unique personality, and look forward to getting to know you and your family!

I’ve volunteered with animal welfare and rescue organizations for almost 15 years. I’m a strong advocate for force free, science based training and animal care.
In my free time I continue to foster dogs and volunteer with an outreach organization in Detroit focused on keeping pets with their people! When not spending time with animals I work in public health.

None at the moment but always dreaming!
Interesting Fact:
I love theatre and I’ve done almost every position from acting, to tech, to directing!
Biography:
I have loved every kind of animal since my brother got a bearded dragon the same year my sister got a puppy. I grew up with almost every kind of animal in my house and only started having none when I first moved out. Missing that chaos is only one of the reasons I love seeing all the different kinds of pets and personalities that show up in your animals!
In my free time I play Dungeons and Dragons with my friends and family, I do theatre where I can, and I read!
